Scary World of TECHNOLOGY

The presentation today was really cool but i dont think i will being using a lot of that stuff in my classroom because there is just way to much info to know. I wouldn't mind learning about it but its a little bit to out there for my teaching practices. Its hard enough to be a first year teacher without a lot of resources and trying to implement this into our teaching practices would be supppppppper tough. As for blogging and using google websites I would defiantly use those in my teaching practices. I think that the presentation was very informative but a little over whelming. I will try to incorporate technology into my classes but not to an extent where my classroom is all about technology.

Overall after looking at the lap dance video that went viral OMG!!!!!!!!!!! was that unreal. I feel that it was a stupid thing to do and was a mindless act of carelessness. We as teachers are in a very vulnerable position and you could defiantly loose your job over the littlest thing. It is a very scary world for us teachers and i feel that we need to thing before every step we make or else our careers are going down the tubes.

Skype Keeps my Relationship going!

Hello my buddies. Well I am in love with Skype and I know mostly everything is to know about it because its the only reason myself and my girlfriend are still together. My girlfriend recently took a unreal job opportunity in North BC Fort St John. When She intially took the job I was pretty scared and thought my phone bills were going to be massive!!!!!!!!!!!!. And then came SKYPE!!!!!. This program has saved our relationship we talk as much as we can and have a lot of face to face interaction. My parents and I had a birthday cake for my girlfriend and we cut the cake with her on skype and it felt like she was there it was pretty unreal. We also use the share screen menu and watch videos together which is an awesome options. Its unfortunate that i have to be away from my girlfriend but I think skype is something that has really helped us deal with the distance. I am going to China for my final placement and skype is something i will definatly use to call my parents and my girlfriend without the ridiculous charges.
As for my classroom I am unsure as to how i would use this in my physical education section but it is something i would defiantly show my athletes i coach in order to help them learn about the program and use it whenever they go on away games. this program is something student athletes can use in order to call there parents or friends when they are away for games or tournaments.

I think Mike is CYBERBULLYING ME

When listening to the presentation on Cyber bullying it was very interestingto see how much is occurs in schools today. I am definatly guilty of sending mean messages to friends in a joking manner but i don't think i will be doing that anymore. Being in a vulnerable position as a teacher i think we need to be more carful as to what we write on the internet and how it can be used. As a future educator i will definatly talk to my students about how cyber bullying can really cause harm and give them a list of repercussions that could occur if they were caught cyber bullying. A recent example I came across that is similar to this topic is the tragic news report about Jesse Logan. Jesse Logan, or Jessica Logan by some, was a teen girl from Cincinnati, Ohio. She studied at Cincinnati’s Sycamore High School and hoped to be enrolled to University of Cincinnati to study graphic design. She was pretty and smart. At an age when many teens are easy to fancy their lovers, Jessie Logan had a boyfriend herself. She trusted him so much to the extent that led Jessie to make a definitely stupid (and deadly) move ever–smsed nude pictures she took using the handphone to the boy.The nightmare immediately began haunting Jessica Logan after the breakup from her boyfriend. He smsed her intimate pics to other female schoolmates who consequently harassed Jesse, called her a slut and and a hoe through personal interaction, text messages and internet E-mails. Having suffered all the insults she shouldn’t have received, Jessie Logan became miserable and depressed, afraid even to go to school. Still, she was brave enough to appear on a local TV station in a purpose to give her advice on other girls not to do the “sexting”, in her words, “I just want to make sure no one else will have to go through this again.” Sadly, two months after that TV interview, probably because she couldn’t endure more bullies, Jessica Logan ended the life by hang herself in the bedroom after she attended the funeral of a friend who committed suicide.(MSNBC). This was a horrible tragic story i found which really touched home with me.people make mistakes and no mistake a child does should cause them to be depressed and commit suicide. This shows how cyber bullying and bullying in general can cause someone to break down and its something that we as future eudcators must monitor

Technology Presentation IN CLASSROOM

Myself, Chad and Tyler from this Internet for educator class did a presentation on technology incorporation in our teaching practices. We are all phys ed majors so we decided to look at ways to incorporate technology in a physical education environment. We had a Wii set up which was a unreal hit and a Tae Bow station that was a dvd being played on t.v. Our presentation went really well and showed our classmates how easily technology can be incorporated into any teaching lessons. I feel that technology is something new teachers are going to have to incorporate in there lessons in order to connect with future students. While observing the class during our lesson i quickly noticed how much of a hit each activity was. I feel that future educators must look at every lesson they create and try to incorporate some form ICT into their activities. Doing this will help teachers connect with students and give teachers an advantage to shine in their peers eyes.

Web Based Learning

Whyyyyyy Good Day You Good Looking People. This presentation on Web based Learning is something i am defiantly familiar with at the University level. I was a big fan of taking a lot of courses during the year because I enjoyed working and playing sport s during the Sept-Apr. when i was in University. I would take 21 credit hours during the year and take 9 credit hours during the summer months and a lot of those courses in the summer were Online. I was a huge fan of online courses because they were organized well through web CT and really allowed for students to partake in other things such as work and sports while taking courses. During the summer months I would work full time and still be able to take courses in order to finish my degree on time. I really thought the courses were well run and helped me finish my undergrad degree debt free.
I feel that this experience has helped me understand the presentation that was presented to us, and i would defiantly want the option of online courses offered at the school i am teaching. Online courses give students options which is something schools need to start doing. With the new physical education curriculum it is important to incorporate online courses because it allows for students to fit another course in the timetable. With the mandatory physical education course it takes away one period that students are unable to take a science course or math course that they need later in university. Online courses can help students fit classes they need into the timetable and allow for them to get those extra courses they need.
When I was teaching in the inner city a lot of students had the ability to be good students but were not able to attend classes because they had to work. Majority of students were from unstable homes and needed to work to support themselves. I feel that having online courses can help these students get their diploma and finish courses they have hard time attending due to work and family obligations.

Second Chance at Life?

Why Hello My beautiful Followers. The presentation today was a real exciting one for me because I have had some experience with Second Life and have done a research project on the different aspects of Second Life. I did a research paper for a class in my undergraduate degree which involved researching Second Life. My paper was comparing the literary secondary worlds such as Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter with the Cyber secondary world such as Second Life. I found a lot of interesting things while researching Second Life and its participants. In my research I found a lot of handicap and disfigured members of society were heavily into the game on Second Life. They felt as if it was a second chance at life and live a life they had set out through their avatar. I found a lot of paraplegic people felt that they had the opportunity to not only to walk through their avatars but to fly. For example in the recent Blockbuster movie Avatar by James Cameron portrayed the main character as a paraplegic on purpose in order to show how much satisfaction a disabled person get through the portrayal of their avatar. I find this to be fascinating and it is something that is interesting to research and understand more about. As educators we work with a lot of students that have disabilities and I feel that this program is something that could help students get a real life satisfaction. I believe that Second Life is something that is an interesting topic that classrooms can research and use a classroom project in order to develop understanding of businesses and how money works with Linden Dollars. This is defiantly a program I would suggest to teachers in business administration as a project for developing a business perspective and look at the game in that aspect. Overall this presentation was really interesting to me because of my background in Second Life and it was defiantly something that I would recommend to teachers to incorporate this into their classroom.

Dr. Alec Couros Presentation

Hello Hello Sharda Here. I thought todays presentation was unreal!!!!!!. Using the Elluminate softeware was sooo cool. It really showed me how much technology has advanced over the past years because we just had a presentation for a whole class without having a person infront of us. I felt that this presentation was one of the best presentation ive had as a University student. The presentation was very interactive that provided videos and images of the variety of things alec was talking about. This is some awesome technology that I think i would incorporate into my teaching practices and enhance what I am trying to show students.

When reflecting on what Dr. Alec Couros said about social networking changing the world of teaching is something I agree with. I feel tha teachers need to adopt these practices such as facebook and twitters and use them as a proper way to interact with students in relations to questions for assignments and activities. I believe that new educators must adopt these social networking tools and use it to connect with students on a professional student teacher relationship basis in regards to the class. Students are really into social networking and i think we as educators must adopt this practice and incoprorate this into our teaching practices.

I really liked the slide share program that was introduced. i really think that it is a good idea to share power point presentations and it could really save some time. Teachers can resource these materials and create their own power points while using ideas from what they have available on the slides. Teachers along with students have a hard time starting anything and these pre made power point slides can really help people get started and develop their own presenation.
